Male or
Female Which One is Right For Your Family
or Just For You
Why I like
boy's:
I have found that boys as pets make better companion dogs because of
their loving temperament. If neutered young, 4-6 month's, they don't
mark a lot, never even lift their leg to urinate. They are more
affectionate, even tempered, cuddly and easier to train. I personally
have always had boys for pets and will continue to do so. I do like
girls too, however even if spayed tend to be more alpha oriented by
nature. They can still be a bit moody. Of course their is no hard and
fast rule that fits all dogs, but over a 20 yr period living with Shih
Tzu's, this is what I have found.
Hope that helps!! Liz
I have had both
boy and girl Shih Tzu through my life time ( I am now 75 years
old) Shih Tzu can tend to be stubborn and I noticed this a little
more with my female when training her in different areas. My male
hates to be in trouble. He quickly submits and by the 3rd time, or
before, he has caught on to what I want from him. If we are out at
parks, walks, my boy stays by me. He is my best friend and loving
companion. I feel like he takes care of me and fills what would be
a very much empty spot in my life. I have tried the girls and even
though they are excited to see me, be played with, cuddle up to you,
they then tend to go off on their own business. My male was not
hard to potty train and he does not mark (he is neutered). He
learned how to play fetch and all basic commands before a year old.
When I am sad he looks at me in a way that I know he understands.
I love my little guy and the happiness he brought into my life.

My male gets
along with all of our other pets even though we got him last. He
fits right into our busy life style and has little demands. He is
not a big barker which I am very pleased about. He loves to ride
in the truck and when left alone in the vehicle he lays down and sleeps
(he is not destructive at all) I am very pleased with my male shih Tzu
and would look at getting another one. Gene
I prefer male animals.
I am a trainer and have worked with many animals, both male and female.
No matter what kind of animal it is, I always get a male. I find
males less moody and very steadfast. I have found them to bond
more closely than "most" females. As for aggression or marking
territory, females can be just as possessive of their owners and family.
Marking is just a matter of training. I have never had a dog I
couldn't train "no, no spots" Get a male you will love him.

Whether you choose male or female I am sure
that you will love your new best friend and devoted companion!
When
you decide that you would like to be a proud owner of a Shih Tzu puppy
it is important to us that we offer a healthy and temperamentally sound puppy.
All puppies need a quite place and a little down time of their own, but
your new puppy should also love to be with you. The internet is
full of information on discipline, potty training, rewards, basic
training to advance training, and anything else you would like to teach
your puppy. The first 6 to 8 months are the most valuable in
bonding and teaching your new puppy what is expected of him. After
your puppy is fully protected with his immunizations, it is fun to find
an obedience class and meet new friends (not to mention showing off your
new Shih Tzu!)
